Chessdude, Belatedly

He lives here in the Chicago area, he’s one of the most promising young chess players in the country, his parents are friends of mine, and this very cool tribute his mother produced is one of the most popular chess videos on the Internet.

And yet I’ve never posted it here, even though it’s been out there for the better part of a year. Sure, the family dog gets publicity here, but somehow the brilliant chess kid has fallen through the cracks. Why? What’s taken me so long to show you what everyone else in the world saw months ago?

I could give senility as my excuse, but I have to be careful how often I go back to that particular well. So forget the excuses. Here it is, the early and brilliant chess career of Eric Rosen, a.k.a. Chessdude64, submitted to you belatedly but nevertheless in full. As usual, click twice on the screen to play the video. And see how many grandmasters you can spot in the show.

I must admit this is one of my favorite videos on the net as well.

If you are wondering who all these people are, check out my liner notes, which I put togehter before my own senility took hold, at http://chessdad64.journalspace.com/?entryid=237.

I count at least 4 GM's appearing in the video, perhaps 5 if you count GM Zack Fishman. And how many GM's to be... you'll have to stay tuned.

And just maybe there will be other offerings by 64 Square Productions down the line... !!?

best chess regards,
Chessdad64

Frankly, I'd only seen Dmitry Gurevitch and Yury Shulman, so thanks for pointing out the others in your notes.

And yes, if anyone deserves the title of honorary GM it's Zack.
